About PDF Dark Mode

PDF Dark Mode is a free browser-based tool for reading PDFs with a darker, more comfortable page view. It is built for people who read long PDFs on bright screens and want a simple, private way to reduce glare without installing extra software.

What PDF Dark Mode Does

The reader opens PDF files in page color mode by default. This keeps the original page layout while remapping bright pages into dark reading themes. It is designed for regular PDFs, scanned pages, OCR documents, tables, and image-heavy files.

When a PDF has selectable text, you can switch to Text reading mode for font size, line height, and font family controls. The download tool can also create a new dark mode PDF in your browser after you preview the first pages.

Some converted PDFs may not preserve selectable text, links, forms, or annotations because the conversion tool renders pages into a new dark version. For important documents, always review the output before sharing or relying on it.

Privacy First

PDF Dark Mode is designed around local processing. Your PDF is opened and processed in your browser. The file is not uploaded to our servers for reading or conversion, and refreshing the page clears the current PDF session.

No Account Required

You do not need to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address to use the reader or converter. Open the site, choose a PDF, and start reading or converting.

Free to Use

The core reader and PDF color converter are free to use. There is no paywall, subscription, watermark, or required registration for the current tools.

Why We Built It

Most PDF files are designed for white paper, but many people read them at night, on laptops, tablets, and phones. PDF Dark Mode gives those files a darker reading surface while keeping the workflow simple: choose a PDF, pick a theme, and read or download.
